Well, our hopes of going to Italy by the end of March are gone. Dad isn’t feeling very well, so he decided to tell us that the trip isn’t going to happen; at least for now. We still don’t know if we’re going to do it in the future. Mom is telling us that we should go to the Philippines instead, but that’s going to be hard for Dad as well. That’s all about Italy for now. It’s sad, i know. I guess Venezia, Milano, and Roma are just going to have to wait for our arrival someday…

civil wedding
So, me and my girl have decided to change some wedding plans this year. We really don’t know how’s my dad going to be later this year so instead of celebrating a big wedding in August at Swan Harbor, we are going to have a civil wedding. We already set up a date, and that’s on February 26, 2008. It’s the date between our birthdays. Some of you may already know that my b-day is on the 25th, and Alou’s on the 27th. The celebration is going to be held at Enotria Italian restaurant in Forest Hill, Maryland.
We’d still do our big celebration in the future but it’s just won’t happen this year. Besides, we have the trip to Italy to worry about, and maybe another trip back home late this year.
Have a good night!
Update on my Dad
Well, he hasn’t done any chemo for at least a month now, and he’s a bit better. He can move around the house more as opposed to just sitting and lying on bed when he was doing chemo.
However, he gained weight a bit, not because of food but because of “fluids” in his body. His knees got weaker and couldn’t actually walk around the house much again. Half of his body was swollen; it started on his feet and up to his arms. But the doctor gave him a pill to flush out those fluids. Thankfully, he can walk better now.
But the last time we went to his appointment, the doctor had some good news and bad news. The good news is that the cancer in his left lung is getting smaller. The bad news is they found some more on the right lung. The doctor suggested another pill to keep the cancer from growing. If that doesn’t work, then we’ll try another pill.
After the appointment we went to Noodles&Company to eat. Now this restaurant serves like the ChowKing restaurant of the Philippines. You order and they actually bring you your food and tells you not to clean up. Anyway, my dad feels a bit energetic that day. Here are some pics:
save the date
Last year, I’ve proposed to my gf on our 2-yr anniversary on August 29, 2007 . ‘Twas a great feeling and at the same time, very nerve-racking! We are giving ourselves one year to prepare for our big day, 08-29-08. We’ve initially liked the idea of having the outside wedding, so we already signed a contract with the Swan Harbor Farm. We also have seen a couple of photographers and loved the works of Story Motion Studios. I was assigned to do some “save the date” designs so we can give out magnets. Here are some samples:
start living the life
“Start living the life…” Now is that good or bad?
Unfortunately, my Dad’s urologist found more lesions in his other lungs. The good news however, is the tumor in his brain is getting smaller. The neurologist told us that his main goal is to give my dad’s quality of life back, so he told us to do whatever he wants.
That being said, we are planning to go to Italy by the end of March. We have a lot of relatives residing in Italy right now. My dad and my sister used to work there as well. So Italy, here we come!
Well, come to think of it, what does “do whatever he wants” means? Does that mean he’s getting better? Or does that mean make him happy for he wouldn’t be here much longer?
My Dad
This is my Dad. He is 63-yrs-old and I should say he’s the best Dad in the whole wide-world. He’s very thoughtful, so kind, unselfish, and always think of others first before himself.
My dad is diabetic, and he never missed any appointments from our family physician. He’s been really good, doing everything our doctor tells him to. He eats right, been healthy and strong, full of energy. Until maybe around August 2007, around 9pm, he collapsed in front of me while we were playing pool. Since he is diabetic, we checked his sugar and it was very low. He mentioned that he hadn’t eaten anything yet that night. But early October, we’ve noticed that he was leaning a bit more towards his left side, either standing or sitting, at that time, it was very unnoticeable, so we didn’t pay attention to it.
The day our family went to a friend’s house for lunch, we’ve noticed he’s really leaning more towards to his left side. Since most of us had work that day, my sister and my Mom decided to rush him to the hospital for he’s leaning is getting worse. The doctors weren’t really sure of the lesions they found in my Dad’s brain and his lungs, so we transferred to Hopkins for a second opinion. The doctors in Hopkins did confirm that it was lung cancer, stage 4, that has metastasized to his brain and lymph nodes.
Everything was just happening too fast! It was a devastating news to our family, relatives and friends. He’s a non-smoker, nor my whole family is. Up until now, I can’t accept or come to terms with it.
He had a radiation therapy in Hopkins and have had at least 5 chemo sessions done. We have an appointment again tomorrow, and we’ll see what the doctor will say. Thanks for your time, and please help us pray for our Dad.
Christmas 2007
I know it’s a ‘lil late, but here u go…
My girl and I have been trying to get a Nintendo Wii the whole months of October, November and half of December. We’ve been to every stores, u name it, Wal-Mart, Target, BestBuy, Circuit City, EB Games, Gamestop, Toys R Us, etc., but unfortunately, NO LUCK! We even became one of those crazy people who would stand and wait 3-4 hrs before the stores open. But I guess we were not crazy enough because every time, there was always at least 30-40 people already lined up @ 3am or 4am early in the morning with their portable chairs. Some of them even brought blankets, tents and heaters. We actually finally gave up our adventure 2 wks before Christmas, due to a very cold and rainy weekends weather.
Christmas day comes, and we had our exchange gifts. I was thrilled and very excited, so much like a little boy, for my girl gave me a Wii. She told me that one of her co-workers had gotten it for her. We’ve been playing my Wii ever since, even my uncle Rudy, my Mom and my Dad join in on our fun playing times.
