This is my Dad. He is 63-yrs-old and I should say he’s the best Dad in the whole wide-world. He’s very thoughtful, so kind, unselfish, and always think of others first before himself.
My dad is diabetic, and he never missed any appointments from our family physician. He’s been really good, doing everything our doctor tells him to. He eats right, been healthy and strong, full of energy. Until maybe around August 2007, around 9pm, he collapsed in front of me while we were playing pool. Since he is diabetic, we checked his sugar and it was very low. He mentioned that he hadn’t eaten anything yet that night. But early October, we’ve noticed that he was leaning a bit more towards his left side, either standing or sitting, at that time, it was very unnoticeable, so we didn’t pay attention to it.
The day our family went to a friend’s house for lunch, we’ve noticed he’s really leaning more towards to his left side. Since most of us had work that day, my sister and my Mom decided to rush him to the hospital for he’s leaning is getting worse. The doctors weren’t really sure of the lesions they found in my Dad’s brain and his lungs, so we transferred to Hopkins for a second opinion. The doctors in Hopkins did confirm that it was lung cancer, stage 4, that has metastasized to his brain and lymph nodes.
Everything was just happening too fast! It was a devastating news to our family, relatives and friends. He’s a non-smoker, nor my whole family is. Up until now, I can’t accept or come to terms with it.
He had a radiation therapy in Hopkins and have had at least 5 chemo sessions done. We have an appointment again tomorrow, and we’ll see what the doctor will say. Thanks for your time, and please help us pray for our Dad.
