It’s been a while…

So it’s been a while since I’ve written here on my blog. You know, the usual, busy with work, dealing with stuff but I will try my best to update my blog more often. Last time I was here was on Father’s Day of last year, and there’s a bunch of things that went on before and after, so here it goes…

First, we moved to a new and safer place. After months of trying to have a baby, my wife and I have decided to move out from the city life to an urban life. It’s not where the farms are, but it’s far from the noisy neighbors, far from the sounds of the ambulance or police cars, and far from all the stress the city offers. The only downside of us moving is now we have to travel 15-20 minutes to go to work, as oppose to a 3-minute walk.

Anyway, the house has 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and is near the shipping mall, near the main highways and has a great neighborhood. We have a big yard, so Popoy is can run around like crazy.

Happy Father’s Day

Last Sunday was Father’s Day. I didn’t get to use the internet the whole day because I got busy. We celebrated Father’s Day with Ava’s Baptism. Lots of food, playing basketball, some dancing, poker, and chit-chatting. My family invited lots of people, but surprisingly only a few came. Even my friends didn’t get to come (they had their own celebration). Here are some of the pics from the Baptism:

Congratulations to my niece for graduating from the 8th grade at St. Joan of Arc. She will be going to high school next school year, time flies doesn’t it?! lol

Last month, we celebrated Oscar’s birthday by doing the Baltimore Spirit Cruise. It was an hour and a half cruise of fun, good food, and good music. Definitely a good way to just relax and enjoy the company of your friends and the view of the water. Afterwards, we went to the Hard Rock Cafe, the ESPN Zone and we had dinner at Fogo de Chao. We had our cake back in our place and continued the fun by playing charades! Fun night!

Tennis

Every time I play a real tennis match I get this butterflies in my stomach. I don’t know why but I’m always like that. Of course, it does affect how I play because I tend to play it safe. What I mean is I don’t hit the ball as hard as I use to (like in practice). Any advise that you all can give me?

Anyway, I had my first official tennis singles match last month and surprisingly, I won! It was a 3.0 USTA Mens League and I actually couldn’t believe it myself. I won on a 3 set match, 7-6, 3-6, 6-4. I even twisted my ankle a lil bit on the second set. But I kept on playing, didn’t feel it really during the match but afterwards, I couldn’t even walk. But yeah, singles is a lot of fun. I like playing singles better than doubles now! lol

We played at Baker Park last weekend for the districts, we won the Baltimore County 6.0 League Mixed Doubles. Our team gets to compete with the other counties in Maryland and it was a great experience. This was the second time our team gets to the districts and last year, I lost my match. I think the score was 3-6, 4-6. But this year, I did a lot better. That’s because I had a lot more confidence on myself and I have more experience (considering I’ve only started playing tennis 3 years ago!). So we won my match, the scores was 6-3, 6-1 against Frederick County.

Congratulations, by the way, to Roger Federer for winning the French Open this year. He has tied with Pete Sampras with the most grand slam titles. I was hoping he would win it when Rafael Nadal got crushed by Soderling in the 4th round. With Pete Sampras not winning a French Open title in his career, in my opinion, Roger just became the best tennis player ever. Also, with Roger winning the French Open title, he also became the 6th player to achieve a Career Grand Slam.

I’ve been really putting off my blogging times for awhile now and I’ve decided tonight that I should start writing again. Well, am just going to put up some pics about what happened in my life during the month of April. Let’s see, it was my brother Hadji’s bday on April Fool’s Day, then it was Yali’s bday on the 15th, my Ninong Rudy’s bday was on the 18th as well as Laurenti’s, then it was Evelyn’s birthday on the 22nd (which was Earth Day). Anyway, this first set of pics were taken at Todai Restaurant located in DC (which was a great sushi buffet place btw!) following some bowling action at Arundel Mills Mall.

Now this set of pics was taken at the Melting Pot located at Towson celebrating Eve, Yali and Laurence’s bday. After dinner, we actually went to a comedy stand-up show of T-Rexx which was a lot of fun. It was held at the Comedy Factory at downtown Baltimore.

Ava finally went home today. She is doing better and so is my sister. They both had some complications, with Ava having some heart murmur and with my sister losing a good amount of blood. I still haven’t seen the baby yet, with me being sick and all, but I am getting better though. Here are some more pics of Ava…

Born on April 29th, 2009 at 11:55am with the weight of 7 lbs and 3 oz. Congratulations to Kuya Roger, Ate Gigi and Avery. Sorry Avery, you’re not the ‘lil girl of your family anymore. =P But I know you’ll be a good big sis for Ava.

i hate being sick

This past weekend, i felt uncomfortable with my throat being itchy. Since it is springtime, I guess it is allergies. I sneeze a lot and I get watery eyes. I’m starting to hate spring, I don’t get to enjoy the beautiful weather outside. Anyway, I’m starting to cough and I feel I’m getting a fever too because I feel like my eyes are getting warmer when I close them. Hopefully I won’t have this for too long because I need to practice tennis and tennis league starts on May.

Changing topic, my sister is going to have her new baby (Ava Romyna) tomorrow. Hope everything goes well. I’m going to be a new uncle again… If I don’t get any better tomorrow, I will have to see my doctor because I don’t want to get the swine flu. And there’s a chance that I might not get to see the new baby yet… =(

Susan Boyle – Britain’s Got Talent 2009

Susan Boyle, a 47 year old woman surprised the world when she sang I Dreamed A Dream from Les Miserables. There’s a lot of videos of her audition on youtube but this link in particular is viewed at least 39 million times. That’s amazing! What’s more amazing is her beautiful voice, which you wouldn’t expect coming from her. In addition, she’s got great personality.
